What Is Covered
Repair costs to your product as a result of mechanical or electrical breakdown up to the original price paid for any 1 repair and to a maximum of the amount shown on the front of the certificate in total during the period of insurance. If the product is beyond economic repair the insurer will replace the product with the same or an equivalent model of a similar age and in similar condition to the one being replaced.
What Is Not Covered
- The cost of materials and labour charges for which the manufacturer or supplier is held responsible under the terms of any guarantee or warranty.
- The cost of any alteration, repair or replacement caused by a failure of electrical equipment, computer hardware and associated equipment to process the change from the year 1999 to 2000 and beyond.
- Breakdown Due To
- Use other than domestic use by you or your resident family.
- Wilful act or neglect or misuse of the product.
- Fire, lightning, explosion, flood or other cause external to the product.
- Damage resulting from
- Loss of external power supply.
- Use of accessories not approved by the manufacturer.
- Damage of a cosmetic nature including, but not limited to scratching, denting, trim faults, rusting and damage to any other such mechanically non-functional items.
- Repair or call out costs for
- Work covered by a manufacturer recall of the product.
- Damage caused by foreign objects or substances.
- Incorrect setting of controls.
- Any costs incurred where no fault is found.
- Replacement costs for, or damage to:
- Consumable items such as batteries, stylii, light bulbs etc.
- Satellite systems.
- Compensation for loss of use of the product and consequential loss of any kind (e.g. video tapes etc).
- The cost of repairs carried out by repairers not specifically nominated by the insurers.
General Conditions
- The insurance is limited to the United Kingdom, the Isle of Man and the Channel Islands.
- In the event of the product being transferred to someone else the insurance cover can be assigned to the new owner, provided the administrators are fully advised as to the details of the new insured, and subject to the terms and conditions of the policy.
- It is the Certificate Holder's responsibility to adhere to the manufacturers instructions and take all precautions to prevent any loss or damage to the product.
- The insurers reserve the right to cancel this Certificate of Insurance by registered letter addressed to the Certificate Holder at the address stated on the Certificate. The cancellation will take effect 14 days from the posting of such a letter. The Certificate Holder would be entitled to a return of premium for any unexpired period of the insurance for which he/she has paid.
- Where the product has been rendered unrepairable due to the non-availability of parts, the insurers will not consider the equipment as being beyond economical repair but will refund the premium for the current period of insurance, less any policy administration costs incurred.
- In the event of replacement of the product or similar settlement being arranged as a result of the product becoming uneconomical to repair:
- The product becomes the property of the insurers who may take possession of this product and dispose of the salvage in a reasonable manner.
- The insurance cover ceases.
- All benefits under this Certificate of Insurance are forfeited if a fraudulent claim is made.
- The premium is refundable only following cancellation by you within 15 days of this Certificate of Insurance being issued, provided that no claim has been made.
- The premium is not refundable once insurance cover has commenced.
- The law of the United Kingdom allows both you and the insurer to choose the law which will apply to this contract. However the law which applies to this contract is the law which applies to that part of Great Britain in which you normally live.

Should you still not be satisfied then please write to: UK Insurance Ltd, PO Box 300, Leeds, West Yorkshire, LS99 2LZ quoting the protection plan and your policy number.
If the matter remains unresolved you have the right to ask the Insurance Ombudsman to review your case but this must be exercised within 6 months of the date of the Insurer's final decision.
