The best picture quality is available via the COMPONENT VIDEO RCA sockets on
the rear of the unit. Sinse most TV's, even very modern ones, dont have this
option another method must be adopted. RGB is without doubt the next best way
to get the signal from the DVD player to the TV with minimum disruption.
Be careful however that RGB can usually ONLY be accepted on AV1.
If you connect and RGB signal to AV2 you will get no picture. AV2 is primed
for s-video which is the next option. It is best taken directly from the
S-Video connection at the rear, but remember if this option is taken
then provision must be seperately made for the audio. The S-Video connection
only carries only video information, not audio.
Try not to run connecting leads between devices over mains or other cables.
Interference can be easily transferred, taking the fine edge from an otherwise
perfect picture. Try to keep the leads as short as possible. Do not connect needless leads in
a chain. Signal loss will become noticeable if the lead length is lengthened
too far.
Don't wrap cables up to shorten them, they start causing interference problems within
themselves.
