Most systems that output Dolby 5.1 also have a TEST SIGNAL built into them.
For example:- The Reoc A5 has a TEST SIGNAL section located in the
AUDIO SETUP menu.
Note:- The AUDIO OUT should be set to ANALOGUE and the
DOWNMIX setting should be turned to OFF to realise all six channels.
Also check that the AUDIO EFFECT is set to OFF as well in the
AUDIO EFFECT MENU.
Now, in the AUDIO SETUP menu, the last option is TEST TONE.
Move the highlight to this option and press ENTER. The Reoc A5 should
now be supplying a test tone (white noise) to each of the speakers
(excluding Sub-Woofer channel).
Ensure that the test tone is coming out of the correct speaker. The surround speakers
appear louder now than they will during usual operation. Sound from the surround
speakers is usually subtle but matching volume intensity to the main front and centre
speakers at this stage will ensure correct operation.
Many problems arise from incorrect connections, usually on the Sub-Woofer
channel and the centre channel. If you have the test tone from all the speakers
apart from the centre channel (not forgetting that the sub-woofer channel is not
included in the test!) chances are that you have the centre channel and the
sub-woofer channel connectors the wrong way round. Try swapping them round on either the
source equipment or the amplifier, but not both.
