In 2 Channel mode, what speakers are working?

An input for a 2 channel device such as a VCR or a TV (with audio out function) is provided on the rear of the HT80. This means that any 2 channel device can be used and amplified over a choice of number of speakers. Connection is simple, simply connect the device using a pair of RCA leads (phono leads) to the input marked AUX. To switch the input of the player from 5.1 audio to 2ch audio, press the INPUT button on your remote handset

A common trick used when no outputs are easily available from the TV is to watch your TV through the video's AV channel with the TV set to AV (if you have a 'digi box' and scart connections) or your TV on your video's TV programme number. The stereo output is then taken from the video and fed into the amplifiers AUX input sockets.

There are 4 sound modes available. Each is selected by subsequent presses of the SURROUND button on the front of the HT80. The current mode will be displayed via led's on the Surr A. OR Surr B.

  1. With both led's off the FRONT LEFT, FRONT RIGHT and SUB WOOFER speaker will be operational only.

  2. Pressing the Surround will light the Surr A led and all 6 speakers will be working.

  3. Pressing the Surround again will light the Surr B lead and 4 speakers will be working. The surround speakers are non-operational in this mode.

  4. Pressing the Surround button again will light both led's. All 6 speakers will be operational using a different method.

  5. Pressing the Surround once more will return the unit back to standard 2 Channel output (with no led's lit).
